So not only did the Chicago Bulls win their home opener for the first time since 2021-22, but they have started the year 2-0 for the first time since that same season. PLAYOFFS HERE WE COME!
Box Score & Players Grades: Bulls 110, Magic 98 – October 25, 2025 I do not advise anyone to drastically change their views of this team after two games. As I said after Game 1, we are going to need a multi-week sample size before re-evaluating where the organization stands and what this specific group is capable of. With that said, I would be lying if I claimed this wasn’t an unexpectedly encouraging start. The Bulls have beaten two projected playoff squads to start the year, and they pretty clearly looked like the more complete team in both games. Now, did they get some serious help on Saturday night with the Magic shooting a ghastly 3-24 from long range? Absolutely. However, the Bulls still deserve credit for taking advantage of their inefficiency. Wasting opportunities is something the Bulls have done far too well in recent years. I was also impressed with how this group was able to win in a very different fashion than we saw on Wednesday night. Yes, their identity remained the same in terms of their unselfish ball movement, but they didn’t win the battle at the free-throw line or on the offensive glass. Instead, they simply came up with better shot-selection AND repeatedly turned defense into offense. They surprisingly forced the Magic into 20 turnovers and finished a +11 in points off turnovers. The Bulls also recorded 13 steals, which is a number they only met ONCE last season, when they poked the ball away 17 times against the Lakers. Tre Jones was the driving force behind the Bulls’ ability to force turnovers. His five steals were a career high, and he’s now tied with Zion Williamson for having the most among players who have suited up in only two contests thus far. Again, we’re only a few days into the season, but the Bulls’ ability to re-sign Jones to just $8.0 million a year feels like it’s going to be a huge steal (pun intended). He is just a high-IQ player on both ends, and he fits how Billy Donovan wants to play extremely well. Heck, Jones is playing so well to begin the year that it makes you wonder what the Bulls might do once Coby White is back in the fold. Will Isaac Okoro remain in the starting lineup, especially after failing to record a single field goal over his first two games? Kevin Huerter has played great off the bench and could reclaim his spot in the first five, but Jones is showing that he can be a very adaptable and complementary player. We also know that Donovan loves to have multiple ballhandlers on the floor and isn’t above going with a three-guard group. Mandatory Credit: Matt Marton-Imagn Images The Bulls have looked like one of the deepest teams in the NBA to begin the year. They walked away with a win last night primarily because of their bench, which dropped an easy 58 points. As ESPN’s Bobby Marks was quick to note, the Bulls now have 93 bench points over their first two games. We knew coming into the year that Donovan would likely run a long rotation, but I’m not sure we expected it to work this well. The Bulls look like a team that isn’t going to give their opponent a break throughout the course of their game. They can consistently field a lineup that is capable of playing their identity. Last night, they finished with seven players in double figures, including four off the bench (Jalen Smith, Kevin Huerter, Ayo Dosunmu, and Patrick Williams). Think about it: The Bulls are doing this without the team’s projected leading scorer and their most physical option in the post. If they already look this creative offensively, imagine when they have both Coby White and Zach Collins back in the fold. I’m intrigued. Dare I say that Patrick Williams looks like a new player? The forward has started the year off the bench for the first time and looks a lot more comfortable. No, he isn’t exploding offensively, but he’s making his presence felt across the box score with his physcality and versatility. When Matas Buzelis immediately got in foul trouble and struggled to contain Paolo Banchero, Williams came in and looked like the adult in the room. He proceeded to finish with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. For the first time in a long time, Williams looked comfortable in his role. — Bulls on CHSN (@CHSN_Bulls) October 26, 2025 Ayo Dosunmu also deserves a specific shoutout for last night’s victory. While he was a tad quiet to start the night, the guard proceeded to drain three triples in the fourth quarter to keep the Magic at arm’s length. If that jumper from behind the arc can stick around for a full 82 games, Dosunmu’s paycheck is only going to rise heading into next summer.Tre Jones and Ayo Dosunmu have developed a nice chemistry together. This was a pretty drive-and-kick from Jones. Watch Dosunmu lift out of the corner as Desmond Bane sagged to tag the roller. Dosunmu lifting to the wing made the closeout longer. Tab is showing a little love to one of the NHL’s all-time greats, who makes a stop at the United Center tonight. The Cubs have their eye on one of the hardest-throwing arms on the market this summer. Can they get it done?MORE FROM BLEACHER NATION: Go Ad Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
