Knight Helping Hawks Learn to Win, Bertuzzi TBD, Prospect Highlights, and Other Blackhawks Bullets ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

With the Blackhawks back on the ice tonight at the United Center, I wanted to swing back to this story from Ben Pope at the Chicago Sun-Times because, in part, if it’s excellent framing. We’ve been talking in this space since July — when the Blackhawks didn’t overwhelm in free agency and made it clear they were going to be much younger this year — that there are going to be mistakes this season. A lot of them. Young players whiff sometimes. And the 2025-26 Blackhawks season is going to be about learning moments, the learning curve and how quickly/how well the young players make the adjustments needed to start winning games.

What I like so much about how Ben wrote this is that the young Blackhawks are still making mistakes. Some of those are costing them penalties and goals. But they’re starting to find ways to win games in spite of those errors. And that, dear friends, happening a week before Halloween is really exciting.

The Blackhawks are still making plenty of mistakes, and Spencer Knight’s torrid streak is covering up some flaws. But the Hawks also are finding ways to win, which matters. They did so again last night in Tampa.Story: t.co/EZ4gS9y0iv

— Ben Pope (@BenPopeCST) October 24, 2025 Only one update from practice yesterday: Tyler Bertuzzi is day-to-day and TBD for tonight’s game. We’ll let you know after the morning skate if there’s an update.

Chicago head coach Jeff Blashill said Tyler Bertuzzi is day to day and his status for Sunday’s game is to be determined. #Blackhawks t.co/oyhr6RRH1X

— Charlie Roumeliotis (@CRoumeliotis) October 25, 2025 Nashville all-star defenseman Roman Josi is out week-to-week. We’ll see if that’s long enough that the Blackhawks miss him in their first game against the Preds on Black Friday at the end of November. The Canadiens announced forward Patrik Laine had surgery for a core muscle injury and will miss the next four months.

Hey, how about some Blackhawks prospect highlights?

In the AHL, Drew Commesso pitched a 38-save shutout for the IceHogs to move into third place all-time in shutouts for Rockford.

— Rockford IceHogs (@goicehogs) October 26, 2025 In the college ranks, Adam Gajan won another game as Minnesota-Duluth swept Minnesota. Gajan stopped 27 of 28 last night. Remember all the people who said he was a wasted pick because he wasn’t that good last year when he was an injured college freshman? Those were good times… Boston University beat UConn 3-1. Blackhawks prospect Sacha Boisvert picked up an assist in the win. Blackhawks prospect Václav Nestrašil scored his sixth goal of the season and added an assist but UMass lost 5-2 to Omaha.

— UMass Hockey (@UMassHockey) October 26, 2025 Providence hammered St. Thomas (MN) 7-4. Blackhawks prospect John Mustard stayed hot as well, scoring this pretty power play goal and adding an assist for a two-point night.

— PC Men's Hockey (@FriarsHockey) October 26, 2025 In the OHL, Brantford beat Oshawa 3-1. Marek Vanacker scored his 11th goal of the season into the empty net. Jack Pridham scored this short-handed goal with six seconds left in regulation to tie the game and force overtime. Unfortunately, Kitchener lost 4-3 in OT.
