LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Emergency crews are continuing their search along the Catawba River near Cowans Ford Dam for a missing kayaker who disappeared Sunday.
Authorities said Pablo Benitez Neri, 45, of Lincolnton, was kayaking and fishing with a friend on October 19 when his boat overturned around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19.
According to the friend, Neri was not wearing a life jacket at the time.

The search resumed on Monday and has continued throughout the week, using sonar technology, aerial drones, and shoreline teams.
A State Bureau of Investigation cadaver dog and a remote operations vehicle have also been used this week in the ongoing search for Neri.
Authorities said the HWY 73 Public Boat Access will remain closed through Friday, October 24.
The search remains active and ongoing.
