The remains of 56-year-old Terri Ann Ackerman were found last month, more than seven years after she was reported missing from her home in Lochbuie.
The Weld County Coroner’s Office on Sept. 10 responded to the discovery of human remains at an address in the 100 block of Poplar Street in Lochbuie, according to a news release issued by the office on Wednesday. The cause and manner of her death await the completion of the autopsy report.
Ackerman was reported missing Aug. 24, 2018, from her home in the 100 block of Poplar Street. She had last been seen the day before, during a visit to her daughter’s house.
On the day of her disappearance, Ackerman visited her daughter, who previously reported Ackerman as seeming normal but “down on herself” that day. That evening, Ackerman called her daughter upset and crying, saying she had to cancel plans to watch her grandchildren and that she hadn’t slept in a while.
Family said Ackerman left behind her keys, phone and wallet, with bipolar disorder medication being one of the only things missing from her house when she disappeared.
The Lochbuie Police Department continues to investigate, the coroner’s office said in its release. After Ackerman’s disappearance, the department had searched open spaces with dogs and drones, canvassed neighborhoods and reviewed surveillance footage, in addition to following up on leads.
The coroner’s office said it will release no further information at this time.
