Purick will receive the 2025 Stars of Life Award, one of the highest honors in emergency medical services.
Purick ran toward danger the night of the crash, putting out flames on a victim and treating him, while inhaling dangerous smoke and getting hurt herself, officials said.
The crash occurred on New Year’s Day 2024. Police said Michael Avery intentionally crashed a car carrying many containers of gasoline. His motive was never uncovered. The crash killed Avery, along with two passengers.
