The first injury reports of Week 8 will be out later on Wednesday afternoon. And when it comes to the Chicago Bears and their upcoming matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, all eyes will be on what designations are next to quarterback Lamar Jackson’s name.
WHAT DO THE CHICAGO BEARS’ PLAYOFF ODDS LOOK LIKE GOING INTO WEEK 8?
Lamar Jackson has missed the Ravens’ last two games while nursing a hamstring injury he suffered in the team’s Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. In Jackson’s absence, Baltimore lost home games to the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams. But with the Ravens coming off of the bye, there was an expectation that things would line up for the two-time NFL MVP to return to the lineup against the Bears. However, that might not be the case.

Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh danced around questions regarding Lamar Jackson and his availability during the upcoming week’s practices when speaking to the media earlier in the week:

— Brian Wacker (@brianwacker1) October 20, 2025Words from John Harbaugh:
“You know, I think all of the guys are working really hard to get back. I can tell you that. So we’ll see who’s back and who practices on Wednesday. I don’t really want to comment on any individual guys, per se, and I’m looking forward to it.”
I usually don’t mind when there is a little gamesmanship from coaches when it comes to addressing the media while answering questions about injured players. However, the commentary from Harbaugh strikes a stark contrast compared to his comments following the team’s Week 6 loss to the Rams (via the Ravens’ official website):
Lamar Jackson is expected to return for the Ravens’ Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears, Head Coach John Harbaugh said following Sunday’s 17-3 loss to the Rams.
Jackson’s return will come at a much-needed time for Baltimore, which enters its bye week with a 1-5 record.
“We’re going to have healthy players coming back. Our quarterback’s going to be back,” Harbaugh said.
Harbaugh was asked if Jackson is “for sure” going to return.
“I mean for sure? I’m saying so, but I don’t know,” Harbaugh said. “That’s how life is sometimes. You can’t predict everything. It’s still the future, but that’s the hope.”
EPISODE NO. 5 OF THE BLEACHER NATION BEARS PODCAST IS HERE
I can speak only for myself, but I expect Lamar Jackson to be back on Sunday to face the Bears. And if you read the commentary above from John Harbaugh, can you blame me for feeling that way? If I were responsible for preparing a defense for that game, I’d gear up to face the four-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro. If Jackson doesn’t play, then you can adjust accordingly once that becomes officially official. The way I see it, it is probably easier to pivot to defend Cooper Rush after preparing for Lamar Jackson than the other way around.
