A popular brand of microwaveable rice sold at grocery stores Target and HEB has is recalling several rice packages due to the “possible presence of small stones” in the product, according to an announcement.
Ben’s Original, formerly known as Uncle Ben’s, has voluntarily recalled three varieties of rice, including Original Long Grain White, Whole Grain Brown and Long Grain & Wild Ready, the announcement said. According to the Federal Drug Administration, the “naturally occurring stones originating from the rice farm” could pose a possible risk of injury if consumed.
The FDA said the recall is limited to eight batch codes, which can be found on the bottom seal of the back of the package. Each of the packages has a best by date of Aug. 2026.

“This is an isolated issue limited to these batches— no other Ben’s Original™ products are affected,” the announcement said. “In line with our commitment to transparency and trust, we are taking action to remove the impacted products from the stores where they were sent and to notify consumers.”
According to the company, no reports of illness or injury were reported to date. Anyone who is believed to have purchased the product is urged to not consume it.
