Raising Canes, a popular Lousianna fast food chain will open a standalone location on the corner of McFarland Boulevard and 13th Street by spring 2026.
Raising Canes recently surpassed KFC in annual United States sales, landing it in the top three chicken chains, according to Newsweek.
“I like the food. I like the sizes of their meals and that it’s pretty decently priced,” said Anthony Dato, a junior majoring in business cybersecurity.
Nora Sammons, a junior majoring in apparel and textiles, had positive thoughts about their food as well, specifically their bread.
“It’s not just a regular piece of bread with seasoning. It has seeds on it and is thick and fluffy; I love it,” Sammons said.
Currently, the only Tuscaloosa location the restaurant has is in Paty Hall on campus.
“There have been a couple of times where I’ve wanted Canes, but I can’t park my car at Paty during hours because I don’t want my car to get towed,” said Isabella Berry, a junior majoring in apparel and textiles. “I am so excited to hear that there is a new off-campus Canes location. As long as the parking lot is easy to get into, I’ll be there a lot.”
