ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’ll see another round of frost to kick off your Friday, with a clear sky and light winds, along with a cool airmass in place. Frost Advisories are once again posted for the majority of the area, as the growing season comes to an end. If you have any plants that are left outside that need to come inside, do it now! A warm front will begin to slowly lift through on Friday. This will bring an increase in clouds at times, along with the slight chance of a shower, but overall most should see another dry day to end the work week.
That warm front continues its slow progression across the area to start the weekend. Because of this, we may see a few showers linger into Saturday morning, along with a mostly cloudy sky. But that front should move east, allowing some sun to return for the afternoon, along with warmer temperatures in the 60s to near 70 degrees. Sunday starts off mild and dry with some sun, but rain is expected to develop from west to east during the afternoon and evening. A rumble of thunder is possible. Winds will also pick up a bit ahead of that cold front, but it’ll be a warm wind out of the southwest.
Rain should last into Monday as an area of low pressure and cold front slowly pass through. Winds may also be a bit gusty on Monday, but it’ll turn to a cooler wind as temperatures fall back into the 50s. Overall, a good soaking rain is expected from late Sunday into the day Monday, before tapering Monday night. We may not want the rain over the weekend, but we do still need it. The latest drought monitor update released Thursday still has the majority of our area in a “Severe Drought,” despite some recent rain.
