Before I dive into a Victory Tuesday edition of BN Bears Bullets, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who showed up (and showed out!) at The BN Watch Party at Frontier. That was a wonderful time. Shout out to the folks at Ankin Law for their support. And fist bumps all around to the Bears fans and readers who came through to show love. We couldn’t do what we do here without you, so I am thankful for your support. As a collective fanbase, we’ve been through A LOT. Wins like the one we experienced last night are that much sweeter when you see them through that lens.
MORE ON THE BEARS MNF WIN: Game Recap | Instant Grades | The Nightcap
You better believe I am enjoying the heck out of that Bears win on Monday Night Football nearly one year after crashing out in the wake of last year’s loss against the Washington Commanders. That was a signature win for a head coach who had something to prove. Ben Johnson spurned the Commanders a few years ago to stick with the Detroit Lions, only to see Washington eliminate him from the postseason in January. Fast forward to October, and it is Johnson getting his lick-back against the Commanders. And to think: None of this is possible if the Bears don’t lose that game against Washington last year. I am thoroughly enjoying this video from the BR Gridiron Heights Frights gang:BEARS WIN Caleb Williams and the Bears get their revenge on MNF #GridironHeights pic.twitter.com/pzRc5rsZzx
— B/R Gridiron (@brgridiron) October 14, 2025 I’m looking forward to Matt’s breakdown of the offensive line play this week because I wonder if his observations will mirror mine. After sleeping on it, I thought Theo Benedet played well in his first start at left tackle. I won’t ding him for the egregiously called illegal formation penalty that wiped away a Rome Odunze touchdown reception. But Benedet more than held his own. Even with the incredibly small sample size we have, I’m on board with giving the Canadian Eagle runway to keep on keeping on as the blindside protector for quarterback Caleb Williams. Caleb Williams’ stats during the Bears’ three-game winning streak: 58/94 (61.7%), 762 yards, 6 touchdowns, 1 interception, and a 104.1 passer rating. He has also been sacked just four times during that stretch. To put the stats above in perspective, this is what those numbers would look like if extrapolated over a full 17-game season: 329/533, 4,318 pass yards, 34 TDs, 8 INTs. Where can I sign up to lock in those numbers over a full season? Oct 13, 2025; Landover, Maryland, USA; Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams (18) scores a touchdown against Washington Commanders safety Quan Martin (20) during the second quarter at Northwest Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Images On the other side of the tackle box, Darnell Wright might have put together his best game of the year. It might have been his best game as a pro. I can’t remember the last time the Bears had an offensive lineman who shut down his side of a one-on-one matchup. The more I think about it as I type out this Bullet point, it might’ve been Kyle Long. So, yeah, this has been a long time coming. I didn’t know this was a thing that happened to Jake Moody when he and Deebo Samuel were teammates on the 49ers last year:Jake Moody really got his lick back against Deebo I can’t believe it pic.twitter.com/23BaHaT36y
— karan (@905Kar) October 14, 2025 Full disclosure: I was skeptical about signing Jake Moody to the practice squad. But to have a game with four made field goals (including a game-winner) when you had little-to-no inkling that you’d be playing on Monday Night Football makes last night’s performance an all-timer. There is a larger discussion to be had here regarding Moody’s future, but it will get its own post later today. We’ll be on the lookout for more on this later today:Bears receiver DJ Moore will be staying overnight in the DC area for precautionary medical attention. Bears will provide an update tomorrow.

— Greg Braggs Jr. (@GBraggsJr23) October 14, 2025 Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson had a quiet game, which I find to be a good thing. The Commanders clearly have seen the recent game tape and knew better not to test the more skilled of Chicago’s boundary corners. Nahshon Wright needs to get it together in coverage, but he deserves a fist bump for checking in with a tackle-for-loss. Wright is willing to get his nose dirty, but his aggressiveness can be used against him. I was hoping free-agent signing Dayo Odeyingbo would step up on MNF. Instead, it was Gervon Dexter Sr. (2 solo tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 QB Hit), Dominique Robinson (2 solo tackles, 0.5 sacks, 1 QB hit), and Shemar Turner (4 solo tackles, 1 TFL) chipping in with contributions from the trenches. We love to see it. Someone ask Greeny if he has tonight’s lotto numbers:Like most geniuses, I won’t be fully appreciated until long after my time. #Bears #Falcons pic.twitter.com/M7hXqCVewU
— Mike Greenberg (@Espngreeny) October 14, 2025 A thought on the officiating: It was gross. It’s not just that officials missed calls; it’s that they missed obvious calls that they were in a spot to make because of where they were positioned on the field. Every official misses calls. Even the best ones. So I try not to dive into that world too much. Pobody’s nerfect and whatnot. But missing the obvious ones makes my blood boil. If it makes you feel any better, that is the kind of performance that keeps crew members from working playoff games. Something that should make you feel better: The Bears won a football game despite a bunch of calls not going their way. After watching the San Diego Padres pout their way out of Wrigley Field in an elimination game earlier in October, I can’t help but think that teams that hang tough despite officiating-induced adversity do so (in part) because of the coaching at the top. I’ve been quite complimentary over the years when it comes to Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. And I realize that makes me a minority among sports fans, particularly ones on the Chicago sports scene. But that was a rough game, particularly from Aikman. I don’t think he has beef with Bears QB Caleb Williams. But his in-game assessments were curious and questionable. Again, everyone has a bad day. That might’ve been Troy’s bad day. Everyone has a clunker. Thankfully, most of ours aren’t seen on national TV.HAPPY VICTORY TUESDAY FROM BLEACHER NATION BEARS: Go Ad-Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
