Team Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics’ Cinco Perez has verbally committed to the University of Pittsburgh as a part of the Panthers’ 2026 recruiting class.

I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University Of Pittsburgh! I would like to thank Coach Chase, Coach Michael, Coach Kaersten, Coach Gideon, and my Club Coaches for helping me with this amazing opportunity!

Perez competed at the Speedo Junior National Championships this past summer, where he set a pair of best times. His best finish came in the 400 IM, where he nabbed 19th place in 4:28.74. He also swam another best time in the 200 IM in the prelims, finishing 36th overall in 2:07.77.

At the PIAA 3A State Championships this March, as a junior at Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School, Perez brought home a pair of 5th-place finishes, notching best times in both the 500 free (4:30.33) and the 200 IM (1:51.36). His 500 free swim stands as his best time.

Two weeks later, Parez had one of thes best short course meets of his career at the ISCA International Senior Cup. There, he rewrote his personal recordbook, swimming best times in the 200 free (1:42.12), 1000 free (9:28.83), 1650 free (15:46.48), 200 IM (1:50.37), 400 IM (3:54.57), 100 back (52.38), and 200 breast (2:05.38).

Best Times SCY:

200 Free: 1:42.12 500 Free: 4:30.33 1000 Free: 9:28.83 1650 Free: 15:46.48 200 IM: 1:50.37 400 IM: 3:54.57 200 Back: 1:49.18 200 Breast: 2:05.38

The Pitt men finished 10th at the 2025 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships. Based on Perez’s best times, he would have finished 38th in the 400 IM, 46th in the 500 free, and 25th in the 1650 free.

Perez is a valuable pickup for Pitt. With a range of mid/distance events, he can be flexible with his lineups, filling in where the Panthers will need him most.

Pitt was not particularly strong in the distance free events a season ago, only scoring four points in the 1650, and failing to score in the 500 free. Perez will immediately be able to contribute to the team, with plenty of potential to become an ACC scorer in the future.

Perez is the first publicized commitment for Pitt in the men’s high school class of 2026 for the Panthers.
