— Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) October 14, 2025 Head coach Billy Donovan bumped up the minutes for his starters during the Chicago Bulls’ third exhibition game. Every starter besides Isaac Okoro clocked over 23 minutes of action. Matas Buzelis, Josh Giddey, and Nikola Vucevic even played 8+ minutes in the third quarter. All things considered, I expect something similar tonight before Donovan is a tad more cautious with the final preseason game on Thursday. While avoiding injuries should be at the top of mind, this is also a Bulls team that needs these low-stakes developmental minutes. Particularly when we consider the pace at which they want to play, now is the time for this team to get their bodies used to the potential wear and tear. Indeed, Donovan has stressed in the past the importance of being the most well-conditioned team in the league. The Bulls have made it more than clear that playing an uptempo brand of basketball is what they want to be known for. They laid the foundation last season with the second-highest PACE in the NBA, and they have now held the league’s third-highest mark so far in the preseason. Nevertheless, this could be challenged for the first time later tonight. The Nuggets have ranked 29th in PACE over their three preseason contests thus far. They could look to slow things down and force the Bulls to play a lot more in the halfcourt. It will be up to this young group to do the exact opposite. Ayo Dosunmu of the Chicago Bulls – © Erik Williams-USA TODAY Sports The Nuggets look even scarier this season. Moving on from Michael Porter Jr., the team added sharpshooter Cameron Johnson into the starting lineup. Their bench depth has received a significant boost, as well. Not only has Bruce Brown returned, but the team added Tim Hardaway Jr. and Jonas Valanciunas. They’ve also welcomed back former first-rounder DaRon Holmes, who missed all of last season due to an Achilles injury. This is the deepest team Nikola Jokic has had to work with in a while, which should be a good test for a Bulls team that we’ve also considered rather deep. Speaking of that depth, some of the Bulls’ supporting cast is banged up heading into this one. Tre Jones apparently hurt his foot and sat out of practice on Monday, per K.C. Johnson. The hope is that he can still suit up tonight, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Bulls give him the night off out of an abundance of caution. Kevin Huerter is also questionable as he still works through a groin injury sustained in the team’s first preseason game. Meanwhile, Julian Phillips has already been ruled out again with a knee injury. Let’s hope everyone can get healthy by next Wednesday!Tre Jones held out of practice after jamming foot but could play Tuesday. Kevin Huerter did more and is trending toward playing in preseason, maybe Thursday. Julian Phillips (knee soreness) still out.
— K.C. Johnson (@KCJHoop) October 13, 2025 Oh, and these injury updates come after we learned that Coby White will likely sit out the remainder of the preseason. There was initial hope that he could get on the floor for one of these final two contests, but Billy Donovan shot that down this week. All signs still seem to point toward opening night availability for the guard, which is all that really matters. However, I don’t love the fact that he’ll have to start the regular season cold. It could come with an adjustment period for him and the team. Coby White is Now Expected to Sit Out the Entire Preseason HoopsHype shared an article outlining the players with the most “trillions.” In other words, which players throughout NBA history have recorded zeros across the entire box score the most. The No. 1 player on the list happens to be a pretty recognizable Bull! Jud Buechler leads the way with 66 “trillions” over his career. Former Bulls Garrett Temple (8th), Brian Scalabrine (12th), and Steve Kerr (16th) also made the cut. A big offseason begins for the Cubbies, so Brett is going through all the contract options and offers they need to make. The Blackhawks are building the right way, but when will that finally lead to better results? BEARS HAVE A WINNING RECORD.
