Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Ty Thomas from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, has announced his intention to swim and study at the University of Louisville beginning in the fall of 2027. He wrote on social media:
“I am beyond thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Louisville! I would like to thank my family, coaches, and friends that supported me while I made this decision. I would also like to thank Coach Arthur and the rest of his staff at the University of Louisville for giving me this amazing opportunity. GO CARDS!! ”
Thomas is incredibly flexible, with Summer Nationals cuts in the 100 back and 200 IM, Summer Juniors cuts in the 50/100/200 free, 50 back, and 50/100 fly, making him one of the top sprinters in the cohort. The high school junior swims year-round with River City Aquatics and is one of our “Honorable Mention” recruits from the Way Too Early list of top boys’ swimmers in the class of 2027.
Thomas dropped time in all his events during the 2024-25 short-course season. Beginning with Winter Juniors West, he hit PBs of 20.67 in the 50 free, 44.20 in the 100 free, 49.69 in the 100 back, 48.78 in the 100 fly, and 1:49.16 in the 200 IM. A month later, he improved his times in longer events like the 200 free (1:39.37), 500 free (4:36.88), 200 back (1:49.80), and 400 IM (3:56.84). He ended with a big meet at Columbia Sectionals, making the ‘A’ finals of the 50/100/200 free, 100 back, and 100 fly with PBs in all but the 100 free.
Similarly, in long-course season, he rewrote his personal record book in all events, including the 50/100/200/400 free, 50/100/200 back, 100 breast, 50/100/200 fly, and 200/400 IM. Thomas wrapped up the summer at Justin Futures, where he placed 3rd in the 50/100/200 free and 100 fly, 4th in the 50 back, and 7th in the 100 back.
Louisville is off to a strong start with their class of 2031. In addition to Thomas, the Cardinals have received verbal commitments from Jack Murphy and “Best of the Rest” recruits Cale TeBeest and Isaac Littweiler.
Best SCY times:
50 free – 20.36 100 free – 44.20 200 free – 1:38.93 100 back – 48.58 100 fly – 48.39 200 IM – 1:49.16If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to Recruits@swimswam.com.
