Keenan Allen Makes History, My Favorite NFL Week 5 Highlights, Will the Super Bowl Go Streaming? And Other Bears Bullets ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

If the Chicago Bears feel as refreshed as I do after returning from the bye, then I look forward to seeing what they have in store for us when they play the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football.

Speaking of which, I hope to see you at the next Bleacher Nation Watch Party, which is ONE WEEK FROM TODAY:

The Next Bleacher Nation Watch Party Is Set! Join Us on October 13! t.co/qKGqovgTbT

— Bleacher Nation (@BleacherNation) October 6, 2025 Whether it is a Bears MNF Watch Party, Cubs NLCS Watch Party, or both, I will be there in attendance. So, please say hi. I don’t bite. There are threads on Twitter and BlueSky in which I share my favorite BN posts that went out during the bye. While you’re here, I’d like to take this moment to thank you, dear reader, for your continued support. Former Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen made history on Sunday:

Keenan Allen became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 1,000 receptions — 70 of which came while he was with #DaBears in 2024: pic.twitter.com/BJmiiNfBbH

— Bleacher Nation Bears (@BN_Bears) October 5, 2025 In case you needed a reminder that the offensive philosophy was broken in Chicago last year, Keenan Allen is on pace for 150 targets, 99 catches, 983 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns in his first year back with the Los Angeles Chargers. To be clear, I’m happy with the Bears’ collection of receivers right now. But there is a part of me that is still miffed by how that group was deployed last year. I hope Shane Waldron steps on Legos when he wakes up in the morning. I can’t believe stuff like this keeps happening:

— Arye Pulli (@AryePulliNFL) October 5, 2025 This is one of the wildest sequences I’ve ever seen:

— NFL (@NFL) October 5, 2025 The Browns were oh-so-close to picking up their second win against an NFC North opponent this year, which would’ve been a nice favor on behalf of the Bears. Unfortunately, the combination of Carson Wentz and Jordan Addison had other plans:

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 5, 2025 Have you seen Carson Wentz’s numbers since taking over for J.J. McCarthy? They look ike this: 69 percent completion rate, 759 passing yards, 5 TD, 2 INT, and a 99.5 passer rating. Over 17 games, that comes out to a pace of 4,301 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Are the Vikings going to stay the course with Wentz? Or will they give the keys back to McCarthy? I’m still not convinced that the injury isn’t an excuse for a soft benching. But it’s not as if the Vikes would ever admit that out loud. Super Bowl Sunday is 125 days away. Which means you have 125 days to learn Spanish so you know what Bad Bunny is singing about. And while playing the Super Bowl on a streaming service is even further away, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. As the NFL’s relationship with YouTube gets closer, Commissioner Roger Goodell said “anything is possible” when discussing the possibility of a streaming service like YouTube, Amazon, or Netflix being home to a future Super Bowl. Following the details of the next broadcast-rights deals will be fascinating. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images There are no more unbeatens in the NFL. The Denver Broncos knocked off the Philadelphia Eagles (in Philly!) to hand the defending Super Bowl champs their first loss of the season. And the New England Patriots toppled the Buffalo Bills, pushing them off the list of unbeatens. The 1972 Miami Dolphins continue to stand alone as the league’s only undefeated Super Bowl champion. Every year, friends ask what I did on the bye. Well, here is this year’s answer:

— Funky Cold Luda (@funkycoldluis.bsky.social) October 5, 2025 at 7:36 PM An incomplete list of things I did on the bye: Attended three Cubs playoff games at Wrigley. Made bistec empanizado (pictured above). Listened to the new Taylor Swift album and saw the cinematic experience with some friends. Cleaned my kitchen, living room, and bathroom. Averaged a little more than 2 miles per day on my neighborhood walks. Cooked up an “autumnal vibes” playlist. Watched the first episode of the first season of The White Lotus. And watched my five favorite football-themed Simpsons episodes.
