What To Watch For
The Chicago Bulls are taking on the Eastern Conference-leading Philadelphia 76ers, while sitting at the other end of the standings, tied for the worst record in the East. Chicago has struggled on both ends of the floor, ranking 27th in offensive and defensive rating and 29th in net rating across the NBA. Usually, young teams find their footing in at least one area of the game, but the Bulls are yet to establish that identity. The hope is that, as the season progresses, they can at least build toward an average offense or defense and show some signs of what this team can become.LET HIM COOK ? pic.twitter.com/nZmJLYiN1r
— Boston Celtics (@celtics) October 31, 2026 Bulls rookie forward Caleb Wilson has continued to impress both on and off the court. His mentality and refusal to accept a losing culture have given fans plenty of reasons to be excited about what the future holds, and he’s backing up that talk with his performances. At just 20 years old, Caleb leads Chicago in scoring with 21.2 points per game, alongside 6.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.5 blocks. He’s become more aggressive over the last couple of games, often taking over when the offense starts to stagnate, but that has also made him a bigger focal point on opposing scouting reports. In response, Caleb has started taking on more of a point forward role, which is encouraging for his development. However, with limited offensive weapons around him, it can also make the Bulls easier to scout and their offense more predictable.Caleb Wilson's first career 30-piece & double-double.30 points | 10-24 FG | 14 rebounds pic.twitter.com/FPE8wWy9Qr
— Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) October 25, 2026 Despite all the statistical struggles, the Bulls have actually led the NBA in pace this season. It’s a style usually associated with teams that struggle in the half-court, and Chicago’s run-and-gun approach has certainly produced its fair share of highlights and momentum swings. The problem, however, has been creating that momentum early. Through their first six games, the Bulls are yet to win a single first quarter, leaving them constantly playing catch-up. Against Boston, Chicago was outscored 44-25 in the first quarter and 34-24 in the second. That’s why, even after winning the point differential in both the third and fourth quarters, the Bulls still walked away with a 15-point loss. Against Philadelphia, getting off to a stronger start has to be a priority. It doesn’t guarantee a win, but it at least gives Chicago a fighting chance. The Chicago Bulls are showing serious red flags early in the season– Worst 1st-quarter net rating in the NBA (-40.4)– 2nd-worst offensive rating & worst defensive rating in the league– Allowing 52.3 paint PPG (5th-worst) & 31.5 FTA (2nd-worst) pic.twitter.com/vOkVVmULlH
— NBABase (@TheNBABase) October 31, 2026 The Philadelphia 76ers come into tonight’s matchup as the heavy favorites, and it’s not hard to see why, with nearly four All-NBA-caliber players in their starting lineup. Expectations are always high for a team with this much talent, but so far, the so-called ego concerns haven’t really shown up. Philadelphia currently has the second-best defensive rating in the NBA and leads the league in limiting turnovers, making them an especially difficult matchup for Chicago. With Tyrese Maxey, LeBron James, VJ Edgecombe, and Jaylen Brown all demanding tough defensive assignments, the Bulls simply don’t have enough defensive personnel to comfortably match up across the board. Joel Embiid being questionable offered a potential opening for Chicago, but the Bulls have their own injury concerns in the frontcourt, with Jalen Smith and Tobe Awaka listed as probable and Nic Claxton still doubtful.first month in the books ? @betway pic.twitter.com/ypq8D5GdwF
