Several schools in the Chollas View area went into lockdown temporarily on Tuesday afternoon following a shooting near Gompers Prep Academy in which a teenager was injured.
The San Diego Police Department said they received calls about a potential assault with a deadly weapon at about 12:35 p.m. Tuesday.
Chollas Mead Elementary School and Horton Elementary were temporarily closed down, along with Gompers. They have since been reopened.
The suspected shooter then reportedly took off on an electric scooter.
The 18-year-old who was shot suffered non-life-threatening injuries to a leg and was treated at a nearby hospital.
