President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that the attacks on Egyptian embassies abroad are partly due to the ignorance and partly due to the “malice and deceit of evil people.”
During his speech at the Egyptian Military Academy inside the Strategic Command Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital on Friday, the President added that: “Part of the story is good intentions and sometimes ignorance, and part of it is the malice and deceit of evil people. The world is not all good.”
Sisi emphasized that Egypt does not conspire against anyone, and that the Egyptian people are by nature peaceful, but will resist any harm done to him.
“Just because we are peaceful does not mean we accept any aggression or harm against Egypt.”
He asserted that the Egyptian state possesses the resilience and capacity necessary to protect its interests and safeguard its national security.
Sisi added that Egypt is working diligently to stop the war in Gaza Strip, emphasizing the role Egypt plays in assisting the Palestinians and providing humanitarian aid.
The President’s comments relate to incidents in August, when Muslim Brotherhood members had staged demonstrations surrounding Egyptian embassies in several European countries, demanding pressure on Egypt to open the Rafah crossing.
Brotherhood members also demonstrated in front of the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv, demanding that Cairo open the crossing to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.
