Caleb Gets Us Glizzies, BJ Continues to Fluster the Flus, Some Love For the D, and Other Bears Bullets ...Middle East

Maybe it’s just me, but my coffee tastes better the morning after a Chicago Bears win.

Good luck figuring out who feels better after that game: Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson, quarterback Caleb Williams, or the fans who were in attendance or watching at home? Williams played his best game as a pro, and did so against a coach who actively wasted a year of development. Johnson followed a week of intense practices with a game plan that his team executed to near perfection. And then we have Bears fans, who had waited 259 days for a regular-season win. The vibes are good today. Let’s keep ’em that way! Caleb Williams on what it meant to get Ben Johnson his first win (via 670 The Score): “To be able to have that moment for him and us is really important. It’s important for us as a team, an organization, to be able to keep building this momentum and have this growth that we want to go on and this run we want to go on.”

It sounds like QB1 knew what was at stake after throwing four touchdowns against the Matt Eberflus-led Cowboys defense:

— The Wieners Circle (@TheWienerCircle) September 22, 2025 ICYMI: The Wieners Circle said it would give out free hot dogs on Tuesday if Bears quarterback Caleb Williams tossed four touchdowns on Sunday. Mission accomplished, Caleb! Points scored by Ben Johnson’s offense when going up head-to-head with Matt Eberflus: 31, 23, 13, 31, 41, 31. Based on the data on hand, I’d say Ben has Matt’s number. Everyone on the Bears offensive line deserves a game ball. We’ve been wondering if this team can block up a Ben Johnson-coached offense. And on Sunday, we got a peek at what it could look like when everyone on the line did their job. The quarterback wasn’t sacked at all, while the Cowboys defense came up with just one QB hit. Watching the O-line has been stressful in recent years, so it was refreshing to get that type of performance. Not to be left out of the conversation, but the Bears defense deserves some love today. That unit played like it spent the week being forced to read the news clippings detailing its demise. I hope whatever motivational factors worked for Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen last week are put into motion again this week. If it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it. Mandatory Credit: Matt Marton-Imagn Images A valuable lesson to be learned from Week 3: The best way to neutralize the Cowboys’ best weapon, kicker Brandon Aubrey, is to score touchdowns and blow Dallas out of the water. Because, as it turns out, 60+ yard touchdowns are worth more than 60+ yard field goals. I thoroughly enjoy watching Luther Burden III play football. He plays with the type of energy that you want your wide receivers to play with on game day. His selection might turn out to be a steal in the second round.

Eight different Bears caught passes from Caleb Williams on Sunday. Four different pass-catchers hauled in touchdowns. I know that having a legit WR1 is a game-changer. But NFL offenses look better when quarterbacks dish it to everyone. Six different Bears had carries in Sunday’s win. That group includes two running backs and three wide receivers. Notably absent from getting a touch on offense (be it by ground or by air) was running back Roschon Johnson. That feels like something worth following moving forward. I love it when the Bears have this type of energy after a win:

From my personal notes: “We’re an interception away from a Tyrique Stevenson Revenge Game post. OK, so we didn’t get that interception. But Stevenson balled out in Week 3. His performance (2 solo tackles, 2 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery) probably deserves a standalone post. I’ll chew on it after I press send on this rendition of BN Bears Bullets. You just knew Jaquan Brisker had something to say about the defense (via ESPN): “We were talking about being the greatest, the best defense in Bears history, in the league — top 5. You can’t give up 50 points. So, it’s just a mentality, and we just had to make sure we were on one line and get everything off of our chest and obviously be on the same page, and we did that today.” Former Bears kickers Andre Szmyt and Eddy Piñeiro nailed game-winning field goals for their new teams this week. And for Szmyt and the Cleveland Browns, it dropped the Green Bay Packers from the ranks of the unbeatens:

— San Francisco 49ers (@49ers) September 22, 2025 The Chicago Tribune has a wonderful photo gallery from the Bears’ Week 3 win against the Dallas Cowboys. I love a good headline. This one from the Sun-Times deserves a gold star: “Burden of proof: Luther stars s Bears’ young offensive talents shine against Cowboys.” Scott Bair (Maquee) has three takeaways from the win. I love that the response from the defense after giving up a 50-burger to the Lions is something that is catching the eyes of Bears fans today. It is easy to get googly-eyed over what the offense did on Sunday. And everyone should! But let’s not forget about the defense’s contributions.
