LUKE LITTLER’S bid for a sixth Euro Tour title was ended by Danny Noppert.
The teen sensation lost out to the Dutchman 7-4 in the Hungarian Open in Budapest on Sunday night.
Luke Littler’s bid for glory in Hungary was ended by Danny NoppertShutterstock EditorialLittler, 18, seemed on course to add yet another crown after his big rival Luke Humphries was dumped out in the quarter-finals, losing 6-4 to Nico Springer.
Gerwyn Price then pulled out of his quarters clash with Littler due to medical reasons.
But ‘The Freeze’ delivered a stunning performance to outgun the World No.2
Noppert and Littler found it difficult to settle and the opening three legs were all breaks of throw.
However it was the cool Dutchman who got the first proper advantage to lead 3-1.
Littler had left himself 170 and hit both treble 20s before narrowly missing the bull for The Big Fish. Noppert cleaned it up with a 72 kill.
It remained nip and tuck but Noppert always held the upper hand with the extra leg win cushion.
But the moment of the match came from the quiet Dutch ace. He broke Littler yet again with a sensational 132 checkout with bull, bull, double 16 to send the Budapest crowd wild.

Littler then needed to win all the remaining legs to salvage his title hopes. It looked a possibility when he then hit an equally wonderful 145 finish.
But Noppert wrapped it up with double 10 to send Littler crashing out.
The teen’s exit comes several days after he declared he was “taking a step back from darts.”
Littler said: “I’ve had an awesome career. I couldn’t ask much better for myself. You know it’s been two full-on years.
“The Premier League at the age of 17 on debut, the nine darters on TV, winning the world championships at 18 – the youngest to ever do it.
“I just want to say thank you to all my fans because the last two years have been phenomenal.
“It’ll shock some people. It’s not been an easy decision. Now I want to focus and do something I really love.”
However, all was not what it seemed, as Littler was heard saying after: “Do you think they’ll fall for that?”
It led to speculation that it is simply a teasing for a promotional announcement — quite possibly a video game, one of Littler’s favourite hobbies.
