What to Expect From the Flus, Clowney Discusses Arrest and Playing Status, College QB Watch, and Other Bears Bullets ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

I took myself on a dinner date last night. Tonight, I’ll attend my first-ever concert at the Metro. Gotta line up the cool and fun stuff while you can when you know that there is a non-zero chance that the Chicago Bears will offer you nothing more than a gut punch on Sunday afternoon.

Hey! Did you see that we’re launching the BN Bears podcast on Monday? Please tune in. We can’t make any promises about the type of effort the Bears will put in, but you know you’ll get the best from Patrick, Matt, and yours truly. This isn’t me doing a bit: I’m genuinely curious to see how Matt Eberflus attacks the Bears’ offense on Sunday. No one knows this unit like he does. The 2025 Bears are starting the same tackles, quarterback, tight end, running back, and top two receivers that were rostered on the 2024 team. And the Eberflus-led defenses held their own (for the most part) against Ben Johnson’s offenses when he was in Detroit. What should we be expecting from a guy who should walk into Soldier Field with a huge chip on his shoulder? A scouting report from Bears wide receiver DJ Moore (via Marquee):

“He might throw a lot of curveballs at us. Knowing him, he’ll do the zone concepts so we’re gonna see a bunch of that, hopefully. Hopefully they’ll throw some man in there so we can go after them.”

What does it mean that I am more concerned with how Eberflus should know how to attack this defense? No one worked more closely with the likes of Montez Sweat, Gervon Dexter Sr., Tremaine Edmunds, Jaquan Brisker, Tyrique Stevenson, and Kevin Byard last year. The bad news is that Eberflus should know how to pick this team apart. But I suppose the good news is that every time that Eberflus was met with any semblance of expectations, his team fell apart in big moments. Here’s hoping history repeats itself. © Daniel Bartel-USA TODAY Sports Freshly signed Dallas Cowboys edge defender Jadeveon Clowney discussed what’s on tap for him this week:

Jadeveon Clowney will “be a gametime decision”, per SJ to 105.3 The Fan, but “the lean is toward him not playing this week.” Will know 90 minutes ahead of kickoff. #Cowboys t.co/AbNKq73kjM

— Patrik [No C] Walker (@VoiceOfTheStar) September 19, 2025 Pro Football Talk’s Charean Williams has more on the Clowney situation. Clowney calls the arrest a “big misunderstanding,” while there are mixed opinions on whether or not he will play. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he expects the newest addition to play some snaps on Sunday against the Bears. But his son, Executive Vice President Stephen Jones, told a radio show that the team is leaning toward not playing him. What a messy situation. With the Bears and Cowboys squaring off, there is probably something to be written about the pitfalls of letting an out-of-touch geriatric and their know-nothing nepobabies run something that was once iconic into the ground. But with that being said, I’m not sure I’m the person to write it. But, hey, I’m an ideas guy. Go ahead and run with it if you’d like. Don’t say I never gave you anything… I’ve been trying to tell anyone who would listen to me that Arch Manning isn’t coming out in the 2026 NFL Draft. And anytime I’ve said it, I’ve been met with looks of disbelief. Well, here is ESPN college football reporter Pete Thamel with a lay of the land:

ESPN's Pete Thamel reveals a poll of 25 NFL executives/scouts ranking college football QB1. LaNorris Sellers got the most votes at 8. Arch Manning received 1 vote. "The NFL sentiment right now, Rece (Davis), is that Arch isn't going to be able to go to the draft until 2027."[image or embed]

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing.bsky.social) September 20, 2025 at 8:39 AM It’s not just that the Mannings traditionally stay in college for multiple years; they are starters for multiple years. Arch Manning has talent. But there is so much development he needs at the college level before NFL teams start considering him as a potential franchise quarterback option. It got a chuckle out of me to see the UCF social media team poking fun at Bill Belichick before the team’s Week 4 matchup against North Carolina. (Awful Announcing)
