Julia Aldag, 13, Arizona Dolphins (AZ): Aldag put up an astounding eight best times at the NEP Herculean meet two weeks ago in Mesa, showing impressive early-season form in the sprint events. Most notably, Aldag put up a time of 58.71 in the 100 IM, which would’ve ranked 4th last season among 13-year-old girls. She also clocked 24.28 in the 50 free, 52.21 in the 100 free, 30.81 in the 50 breast, 26.48 in the 50 fly, and 57.54 in the 100 fly, all of which would’ve ranked in the top 50 among 13-year-olds last season, and she added a best time of 1:56.01 in the 200 free.
Nathan Kondapalli, 15, San Ramon Valley Aquatics (PC): Kondapalli went four-for-four in best times at last weekend’s East Bay Silver Dolphins Short Course meet in Hercules, Calif., which occurred just before he aged up and turned 15. Kondapalli’s most noteworthy swim came in the 50 fly, where he clocked 23.37 to knock more than three-tenths off his best time (23.69). The swim would’ve ranked 16th in the boys’ 13-14 age group this season. He also had an impressive swim in the 100 free, posting a time of 47.68 to chip five one-hundredths off his personal best—it would’ve ranked 60th in the boys’ 13-14 age group last season. He also set bests in the 50 free (22.36) and 100 IM (54.84).
Reign Belzer, 9, Florida Atlantic Aquatics (FG): Belzer put up seven best times en route to winning 10 events at Michael Memorial’s Meet two weeks ago in Pembroke Pines, Fla., showing impressive form in every discipline. Belzer set new bests in the 50 free (29.20), 200 free (2:15.29), 50 back (32.24), 100 back (1:09.76), 100 breast (1:27.86) and 200 IM (2:32.99), and also earned victories in the 100 free (1:04.24), 50 fly (32.09) and 100 fly (1:11.23). Her swim in the 50 back would’ve ranked 2nd last season among nine-year-old girls, while her 200 free and 100 back would’ve been 4th, and her 200 IM would’ve been 7th.
Will Crisp, 12, Streamline Aquatics (ST): Crisp set new personal bests in the 50 free (24.00), 100 free (52.75) and 50 back (27.97) at the SASA Sombrero Series meet last weekend in San Antonio. Coming into the season, Crisp held PBs of 24.31 in the 50 free, 53.55 in the 100 free and 28.34 in the 50 back. He also posted times of 1:00.14 in the 100 back and 2:14.90 in the 200 back at the season-opening meet, with his PBs from last season sitting at 59.19 and 2:09.18, respectively.
Cristina Perdomo, 11, SwimAtlanta (GA): Perdomo notched a quartet of lifetime bests at the AAU SwimAtlanta Kickoff last weekend, highlighted by her performance in the 100 fly. The SwimAtlanta member put up a time of 1:01.93 to knock nearly two seconds off her previous best time of 1:03.87, and it would’ve ranked 24th last season among 11-year-old girls. She also set PBs in the 100 free (58.83), 100 back (1:07.70) and 100 breast (1:14.85).
