The first installment of the Week 3 Chicago Bears injury report is OUT, and it has some updates regarding key players who are dealing with some things ahead of the team’s upcoming matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
Chicago Bears Injury Report — September 17, 2025
PLAYERS WHO DIDN’T PRACTICE: Cornerback Jaylon Johnson (groin), linebacker T.J. Edwards (hamstring), cornerback Kyler Gordon (hamstring), defensive tackle Grady Jarrett (knee), cornerback Jaylon Jones (hamstring)
I wasn’t expecting much (if any) good news at the top of the injury report … and I didn’t get any. Bummer. Five players didn’t participate in Wednesday’s practice. Four of those players are starters on Chicago’s defense. Yikes! The list is headlined by a pair of Bears players who suffered injuries in the team’s Week 2 loss against the Detroit Lions. Cornerback Jaylon Johnson suffered a groin injury in Week 2 and is reportedly out indefinitely. Meanwhile, linebacker T.J. Edwards suffered a hamstring injury in his first action of the year after being sidelined with a hamstring issue. Tough break for two key cogs in the defense.

Gordon has been nursing a hamstring injury since before Week 1. Fellow cornerback Jaylon Jones missed practice due to a hamstring injury. Altogether, the Bears have three cornerbacks on the injury report. That doesn’t feel good at all.
Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett begins this week in the same way he did last week by being on the Bears injury report as a DNP with a knee injury. After playing on 82.1 percent of the team’s defensive snaps in Week 1, Jarrett was limited to 59.3 percent of the snaps in Week 2. We’ll continue to monitor his status as updates come out. The Bears signed Jarrett to anchor the middle of the defensive line, but the veteran presence has two quarterback hits in two games, but no sacks or tackles-for-loss.
PLAYERS WHO WERE LIMITED IN PRACTICE: Running back D’Andre Swift (quad), offensive lineman Kiran Amegadjie (elbow), linebacker D’Marco Jackson (hamstring), wide receiver Jahdae Walker (ankle)
Sep 14, 2025; Detroit, Michigan, USA; Chicago Bears running back D’Andre Swift (4) carries the ball against the Detroit Lions during the first quarter of the game at Ford Field. Mandatory Credit: Lon Horwedel-Imagn ImagesThe biggest name on this list is running back D’Andre Swift, whose quad injury limited his participation during Wednesday’s practice. We’ll keep tabs on Swift’s progress on the Bears injury report. If he doesn’t get upgraded before Saturday, then I’ll be readying myself to see a heavy dosage of Kyle Monangai, who seems to have snagged the RB2 role in this offense.
