The Chicago Cubs today called back up outfielder Owen Caissie from Iowa, and optioned outfielder Kevin Alcantara to Iowa.
You’ll recall the Cubs made this very swap – in the other direction – two weeks ago, given the better late-inning/match-up fit with Alcantara over Caissie. But now, I suppose because the Cubs are without Kyle Tucker for a more extended period of time, and because Seiya Suzuki has been sick, the Cubs prefer having Caissie available?
Alcantara wasn’t seeing much action, obviously, so the change to the roster composition, in terms of what we might feel on a day-to-day basis, is not significant here. Hopefully Caissie, like Moises Ballesteros, can draw some starts.
