Triple-A Iowa Cubs
After Tuesday night’s 7-0 extra innings win, Wednesday’s game was a little more normal. Unfortunately, it resulted in a loss for Iowa. Antonio Santos got the start, and he struggled through three innings of work. Santos gave up five runs, six hits, three walks, and struck out four.
Indianapolis jumped Iowa from the get-go. They picked up four runs in the first, one in the second, and one in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead. The Cubs finally got on the board in the fifth when Jonathan Long cut into the Indy lead with a solo home run. The Cubs picked up two more runs in the top of the seventh on an RBI single from Long and a sacrifice fly from Nicky Lopez to make it a 6-3 ball game, but Indy added immediately in the seventh and eighth to make it an 8-3 win.

Walker Powell started on the mound for Knoxville and tossed five solid innings, allowing just one hit and an unearned run. He left with the Biscuits holding a 1-0 lead. Montgomery added another run in the sixth to make it 2-0.
In the eighth, the Smokies offense finally got on the board. BJ Murray Jr. drew a bases-loaded, two-out walk, which cut the deficit to 2-1. The next batter, Ethan Hearn, flipped the game with a two-run, RBI single, giving Knoxville its first lead of the game, 3-2. In the eighth, the Biscuits evened the score after a wild pitch from Nick Hull, and we went into the ninth tied 3-3.
In the top of the ninth, Knoxville took back the lead on a Jordan Nwogu RBI single, and then on a wild pitch to make it a 5-3 game, which stood as the final score.
