Crews were working Monday evening to make sure all the bathrooms at Smoky Hill High School in Aurora were open and ready for use after plumbing problems closed about four of the bathrooms.
The bathrooms and a service area had to be closed off and cleaned up, Cherry Creek School District spokeswoman Lauren Snell said in an email.
“District facility operations, environmental services, custodial and plumbing staff responded quickly and resolved the plumbing issue. We are currently working to clean the entire impacted area to be back to regular operations,” Snell said.
Most of the school’s bathrooms remained open during the school day. Snell said students didn’t have access to any of the areas where there was sewage.
“Crews are working this evening to get all bathrooms opened for tomorrow’s school day,” Snell said.
Nearly 2,400 students attend Smoky Hill.
