DENVER (KDVR) — Several La Loma restaurants are getting a new name after one of the restaurant owners gained exclusive rights to the brand in early September.
Previously, there were technically five La Loma restaurants in the Denver metro area, however, they were owned by two different people. The La Loma restaurants on Broadway in Denver and Castle Rock were owned by Mark Brinkerhoff, while the La Loma restaurants in McGregor Square, Greenwood Village and Parker were separately owned by Renée Brinkerhoff and her son William Brinkerhoff Jr.

La Loma on Broadway and in Castle Rock is now known as Savina's Mexican Kitchen, "honoring the woman who started it all," according to the new website.
Savina Mendoza, known as Grandma, started a family-run Mexican restaurant in a small Denver home in 1973, then found a new home for the food, known as La Loma, in 1981. While two of the five La Loma restaurants are getting a new name, Savina's said nothing else has changed.
There are only three La Lomas in Denver now, and any other La Loma locations that open will be owned by Renée.
