Alas, neither of our parents were available to take us. No problem! Just a few months earlier we’d successfully navigated an autograph signing to meet Luke Perry (with parental permission and adult supervision). So we did what we had to do: lie to our parents, sneak out, and hop on unfamiliar public transit to meet Brian.
The good news? We met Brian. The bad news? Our bus back home never showed, we were completely stranded in downtown Miami, and we ultimately had to call the police just to get home. Telling Brian this story nearly 36 years later—while Jodie Sweetin and Beverley Mitchell dissolved into giggles—was peak surreal joy.
And yes, I still have the newspaper clipping about that fated appearance Brian made (sadly my face did not make it into the piece).
