DaWindyCityProductions has been doing stellar work on their hype videos FOR YEARS. So, of course, I was going to share their latest work at the top of today’s BN Bears Bullets:
I will never pass on an opportunity to watch and share these hype videos. I’m so ready to get things started in Week 1. We’re just 6 days away. Our patience is going to pay off, just like I’ve been saying all offseason!
One of the matchups I look forward to seeing unfold on Monday Night Football is how the Bears’ defense will try to slow down the Vikings’ offense. Even without receiver Jordan Addison (who is serving a suspension) in the lineup, Minnesota still has playmakers (WR Justin Jefferson, RB Aaron Jones, TE T.J. Hockenson) who can give opponents fits. Hockenson is someone who can be a mismatch problem, and he knows it:“I’m one of the top route-running tight ends in the league,” Hockenson said, via the Minnesota Star Tribune (h/t Pro Football Talk). “I pride myself on creating separation and you look at it and that’s what I do on Sundays. … There’s been times throughout my career I’ve had challenges and I’ve always been able to bounce back and be a better player than what I was.”
“I have plenty of goals, and they’re to the standard I want them to be,” Hockenson added. “I obviously want to be the top tight end in this league. I want to be the best player in this league, but I’m also focused on being the best teammate I can be.”
When led by a healthy cornerback tandem of Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon, the Bears’ secondary is the strength of this defense. Throw in two-time first-team All-Pro safety Kevin Byard and the infectious energy of tag team partner Jaquan Brisker, and that group has the potential to be one of the best units in the league. And yet, I still don’t know how they would best cover someone like T.J. Hockenson. Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen will have his work cut out for him in Week 1 as he tries to handle this potential mismatch. © Daniel Bartel-Imagn Images Even though Micah Parsons passed his physical to make that Packers-Cowboys trade officially official, it doesn’t sound like the star pass rusher is out of the woods just yet on the health front. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reports that the Pro Bowl defender is dealing with an L4/L5 facet joint sprain that might require an injection before Sunday’s Week 1 matchup against the Detroit Lions. Back injuries sound nightmarish. Good luck dealing with that. This is what Bears center Drew Dalman had to say (via the Tribune) about the Micah Parsons trade to the Packers: “I mean, I heard some guys talking about it, but I didn’t see. … Great player and all that, so it’ll be a good challenge and everything. But honestly, right now, I feel like we’re so one-week-at-a-time that that’s very much on the back burner. … We’re focused on Minnesota and we’ll handle all those things when they come.” The Bears and Packers won’t play until Dec. 7, which is Week 14. Hence, I understand why there is an “out of sight, out of mind” element in play.THE CHICAGO BEARS 2025 SCHEDULE IS HERE — OPPONENTS, DATS, TIMES, MORE
With the Bears opening against the Vikings and Lions, a fast start feels like it would mean more in 2025 than in other years when one could’ve pointed toward later divisional games as an opportunity to make hay after a slow start. I like that the Bears are being tested early. The time to run toward challenges is now. (Sun-Times) The Lions named quarterback Jared Goff, sack artist Aidan Hutchinson, receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, offensive tackle Penei Sewell, linebacker Alex Anzalone, and linebacker Grant Stuard as their captains on Monday:2025 #Lions team captains pic.twitter.com/se5NZtTVRO
— Detroit Lions (@Lions) September 1, 2025 This reminds me that Chicago’s football team hasn’t done that yet (as of this posting, which I am writing at 7:10 a.m. CT). Hopefully, first-year Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson has more sense than Matt Nagy (whose rotating captains system was one of my least-favorite talking points during his time as head coach) or Matt Eberflus (who named a bajillion captains last year). Football fans absolutely ROASTED the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” program for using an AI robot. And deservedly so, mind you. Let this be a reminder that, for whatever perks it provides, AI is not a substitute for the human connectivity that our souls desire and require to get through this thing called life. (Awful Announcing) Marquee’s Scott Bair name checks some Bears players worth drafting onto your fantasy football team in 2025. I wasn’t happy with my performance in last night’s fantasy auction draft. There were internet connection and glitch issues early, then overthinking led to me passing on getting players I was targeting for reasons I still can’t comprehend. But then, Yahoo’s projections spit out that my team is forecast to be the third-highest scorer. This is what I came up with last night:PROJECTED STARTERS QB: Brock Purdy WR: Ja'Marr Chase, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Garrett Wilson RB: D'Andre Swift, James Conner TE: David Njoku FLEX: David Montgomery SUPER: Caleb Williams DEF: Packers BENCH QB: Tua Tagovailoa WR: Jordan Addison, Brandon Aiyuk, Rashee Rice, Stefon Diggs RB: Aaron Jones[image or embed]

Since posting this on BlueSky, I added Patriots tight end Hunter Harvey, because I feel like that is a nice outlet option for quarterback Drake Maye to target in that offense. I know I’ll take some guff for snagging the Packers’ defense/special teams unit. But the way I see it, if they implode, then I’m OK with my fantasy team taking some L’s. And if they do well, then at least it helps my fantasy team. It isn’t a great situation to be in, but it is what it is at this point. How would you grade the squad? P.S. – Shout out to the fellas I met at Bernie’s on Monday. An impromptu beverage and conversations with strangers about the country’s best travel cities during a Cubs come-from-behind win is another reminder of what makes being out-and-about in this city great. Safe travels.MORE FROM BLEACHER NATION BEARS: Go Ad-Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
