UCF security delivers hardest hit of Thursday night to fan rushing field ...Middle East

News by : (SATURDAY DOWN SOUTH) -

Scott Frost’s second go-around with Central Florida got off to a sloppy, choppy, but ultimately successful start. The Knights beat Jacksonville State 17-10 at home on Thursday night after the contest was delayed for more than 2 hours in the second quarter because of lightning.

During the delay, students formed a conga line in the stands to pass the time. Other visitors at the Bounce House were less inclined to play by the rules.

One fan briefly rushed the field.

After evading several members of the security team, that fan was rocked.

Reporters covering the game also captured footage of the hit from the press box. Do you need to see another angle of a security guard leveling a field-stormer? Probably not. Do you want to see another angle of the tackle? Probably. Is it made significantly better by the commentary in the background from bored reporters? You bet.

We have reached the point in this UCF-Jacksonville State lightning delay where about a 100 students are doing a conga line in the pouring rain around the stadium. Oh, and someone just ran on the field and was violently tackled by police. pic.twitter.com/4LaXuOxEL5

Jacksonville State should look into signing the security guard. It had a tough time containing UCF on Thursday night.

The Knights ran up 422 yards of total offense at 6 yards per play. They were 7-for-15 on third down as quarterback Tayven Jackson fired UCF to a win.

Trailing 10-3 in the fourth quarter, Jackson threw 39- and 33-yard touchdown passes with 9:30 and then 1:03 remaining in the game to push the Knights out in front. Jackson, an Indiana transfer, came off the bench to throw for 282 yards and 2 scores on 17-of-24 passing.
