ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man accused of killing a missing 28-year-old from Rochester, who was found dead in Cattaraugus County, is due in court on Friday morning.
A Monroe County Grand Jury indicted the suspect, Ruben Ortiz, on charges of murder and concealing a corpse. A judge is set to arraign Ortiz on those charges. Earlier this month, Ortiz pleaded not guilty at his court appearance.
Rochester Police had been looking for the victim, Luis Leon, ever since he was reported missing. Two days later, RPD found his body hidden off Route 17 in Cattaraugus County. According to investigators, Ortiz killed Leon at his home on Indiana Street in Rochester, then hid his body over 100 miles away.
Investigators say Ortiz is the brother of the victim’s longtime girlfriend. According to RPD, Leon’s body had blunt force trauma and he appeared to have been dead for several days when police found him.
