Triple-A Iowa Cubs
Iowa used a strong outing from Connor Noland and a clutch extra-innings performance to take a 3-2 win on Friday night. The Cubs got on the board first with a Carlos Pérez two-run double in the fifth inning, making it 2-0. The Space Cowboys got on a run back in the sixth; it was the only one surrendered by Noland on the night. In the eighth, after loading the bases, Sugar Land tied the game up when Porter Hodge issued a bases-loaded walk. That tied the game at two, and the game would go to extras.

Double-A Knoxville Smokies
Knoxville fell behind relatively early in this one, with the Biscuits grabbing runs in the third and fourth innings off Tyler Schlaffer. Schlaffer only allowed the two runs, but he lasted just 3.1 innings. The Smokies got a run back in the fifth on an Ethan Hearn solo home run. Hearn was the bright spot offensively for Knoxville, going 2-3 with that home run and a stolen base.
After the Smokies came within a run, Montgomery added back on right away with a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh. The two teams each added a run in the ninth, making the score 6-2, and Knoxville never really threatened again to make this one close.

High-A South Bend Cubs
South Bend surrendered three runs to the Kernels in the top of the second inning, and that’s all Cedar Rapids would need to pick up the win. After the Kernels added one more in the fifth to make it 4-0, the Cubs picked up a pair in the bottom half of the frame on a groundout from Ariel Armas and an RBI single from Edgar Alvarez. That was it for South Bend’s scoring, though. Cedar Rapids added one more run in the ninth and picked up a 5-2 win.

Low-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans
One big inning doomed the Pelicans on Friday night in their loss to the RiverDogs. Myrtle Beach took an early 1-0 lead on a home run from Jose Escobar. In the fifth, they added another run on another solo shot, this time from 2025 second-round pick Kane Kepley, who’s been on fire since joining the Pelicans, hitting .365.
The 2-0 lead wasn’t long-lived, however. After throwing five scoreless frames, Justin Florentino got into trouble in the sixth. Charleston put up three runs in the frame to jump out to a 3-2 lead. In the sixth and the ninth, the Pelicans were able to get the leadoff hitter on base, but unfortunately, they couldn’t do anything with it and ultimately fell 3-2.
