A garbage truck driver crashed into a suburban antique store Thursday morning, causing damage to the storefront and road closures, authorities said.
Around 8:10 a.m. Thursday, a Lakeshore Recycling Systems garbage truck driver crashed into the front of Heart’s Desire Antiques, at 1014 East 31st Street in La Grange Park.
The truck was “partially embedded in the front” of the store when authorities arrived, police said.
The antique store was closed, and nobody was inside when the crash occurred, police said. The truck driver was treated on scene by paramedics and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 1000 block of East 31st Street was closed in both directions for assessments and cleanup until approximately 10:53 a.m., police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by La Grange Park Police Department.
