Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty took CNN anchor Becky Anderson to the Rafah crossing for an on-the-ground look regarding the situation at the crossing linking Gaza Strip and Egypt.
The CNN anchor said that trucks filled with humanitarian aid were waiting to cross the border into the Gaza Strip at the Rafah crossing.
She added in a CNN video: “You are joining me on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing, and behind me are trucks filled with humanitarian aid waiting to cross the border into the Gaza Strip.”
“The drivers told me they have been waiting here for 20 days, and the Egyptians told me that these trucks are part of 5,000 trucks waiting to cross into Gaza.”
“Egypt is under tremendous pressure to do more to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the people of Gaza Strip,” she said.
Red Line
The Egyptian Foreign Minister said on Monday that the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza Strip is a “red line” and that Cairo will not allow any party to jeopardize Egypt’s national security or sovereignty.
Abdelatty added that Egypt is working through various channels, with one goal – to alleviate the burden and suffering of the Palestinians.
He strongly stressed that his country will not tolerate the mass Palestinian exodus from Gaza.
“We will not accept it, we will not participate in it, and we will not allow it to happen,” the Foreign Minister told CNN.
He warned that this is guaranteed to be a “one-way ticket” for Palestinians out of Gaza, which will lead to the “complete liquidation” of their cause.
