DENVER (KDVR) — An early morning fire at a strip mall in Centennial shut down four businesses after inspectors declared the building uninhabitable, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.

The fire started just after 1 a.m. Thursday morning at 11001 E. Arapahoe Place in Centennial. The building has four businesses inside: Bawarchi Indian Cuisine, Happy Paw Grooming, Baker’s Inn, and Vi Vi Vietnamese Noodle Soup & Grill.

Crews originally thought they had contained the fire to just one business in the strip mall, with smoke damage throughout the building. While crews were ventilating the building, however, active fire was found on the roof of the building.

The fire was brought under control just before 3 a.m. with the help of about 50 firefighters.

Investigators are still looking into what caused the fire, but Centennial's building inspector has closed all four businesses in the building due to fire damage.
