Before Wednesday’s practice, head coach Ben Johnson confirmed that Williams and the rest of the starters on offense and defense who did not play against Miami last week will suit up on Sunday at Soldier Field against Buffalo.
As for how much Williams and company will play on Sunday, Johnson said that will be determined in practice this week.
“I think the trust that we’ve been talking about from the get-go, that’s really where that comes into play,” Johnson said. “We haven’t been here with this group as a coaching staff. That trust has been earning and we’ve been developing that amongst each other. It’s not a one-way street. It goes both ways. And so I think that’s just another step in the progression, you know? I think it’ll be great for them.”

While Johnson decided not to play Williams and 17 other starters last week against Miami, instead opting for an intense throwing session for his second-year quarterback and a team practice for that group on Monday, he said today that he wants them to experience the procedure of playing a night game, something the team will do in Week 1 when they host the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football.
“It’s a night game, and so it’s a little bit different procedure, and it doesn’t matter if you’re a rookie or if you’re a 10th-year guy,” Johnson said. “I think going through those steps with a new staff, I think that those are already critical components.”
