Residents should decide Greeley’s future

As a longtime Greeley resident, I believe decisions about our future should be made by us — not by outsiders with hidden agendas.

That’s why it’s deeply concerning that a California-based political action committee is spending money — more than $1,700 so far — on Facebook ads to stir up opposition to Greeley’s proposed entertainment district. Their messaging, pushed under the name “With Many Hands,” urges residents to sign a petition that would derail progress, discourage investment, and block a project designed to strengthen our local economy.

It’s not about the dollar amount — it’s about the intent. Whether it’s $17 or $17,000, the fact remains: a group with no ties to Greeley is trying to influence how we shape our future. That should raise alarm for anyone who values local control and community-driven decision-making.

So the obvious question is: Why would a liberal PAC from California care what happens in Greeley?

And who’s really behind the curtain?

We’ve seen how the Colorado Eagles drive business in Loveland — filling restaurants, hotels, and small shops. Fort Collins also benefits from drawing in Greeley residents for entertainment and events. Could it be that some in our region would rather keep Greeley dollars flowing into their cities — while keeping Greeley stuck on the sidelines?

Whether it’s out-of-state political groups or neighboring cities like Loveland and Fort Collins with competing interests, Greeley voters deserve to know who’s funding the misinformation — and why they’re trying to manipulate our choices.

This is our community. We should decide our future — together, and on our own terms.

Ask Gabe Evans about Epstein files

Where is the justice for the hundreds of young girls sex-trafficked and abused by Jeffrey Epstein? The residents of Colorado’s 8th District should be asking why their congressman Gabe Evans voted against releasing the Epstein files, thereby protecting an unknown number of pedophiles from ever being indicted and hopefully convicted. Why would anyone, much less a former law enforcement officer, fight to keep the details of such a large sex-trafficking organization secret?

Gabe Evans owes his constituents an explanation of why Epstein’s victims should be ignored while the reputations of the abusers must be preserved at all costs. Is this who we have become? Are we now expected to tolerate pedophilia and other atrocities if the wealthy elite are involved?

I’ve heard enough from Bill Grimes.
