Taylor Swift and her boyfriend are dominating the headlines, and the Barstool founder is saying this is a good thing, for everyone outside of Chiefs Kingdom.
Dave Portnoy has suggested that Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are finished.
Kelce heads into his 13th season with the ChiefsGettyKelce and Swift have teased not only the Grammy-winning artist’s appearance on the New Heights podcast, but Swift has also revealed the name of her 12th studio album — Life of A Showgirl.
This has sent the media and internet into an absolute frenzy, something that Portnoy believes is good for everyone not named Kansas City.
“All joking aside this media blitz from Travis Kelce confirms the Chiefs are cooked,” Portnoy wrote on X.
“As Marvin Hagler once said, ‘It’s tough to get out of bed to do roadwork at 5am when you’re sleeping in silk pajamas.’ Chiefs had a cute run but laughable to compare them to Patriots Mega Dynasty.”
Portnoy is, of course, a Boston sports nut, and most notably a huge New England Patriots fan, and Tom Brady diehard.
Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, Kelce, and the Chiefs have been threatening New England’s title as the most dominant dynasty with five Super Bowl appearances in six years and three world championships.
However, the trajectory came to a screeching halt at the end of last season when the Chiefs were throttled by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX 40-22.
That result, for now, quieted all Kansas City-New England comparisons, along with the Mahomes-Brady comparisons. Even the Reid versus Bill Belichick argument has been put to bed for now.
Portnoy has now decided to twist the knife in the Chiefs dynasty and declare them dead for good. Or at least that’s what he is hoping for. Portnoy doesn’t want anyone coming close to his beloved Pats and greatest-to-ever-do-it quarterback.
Mahomes, Kelce and the Chiefs still have an extremely long way to go if they want to catch Brady’s Patriots.
Brady led the NFL’s greatest dynasty for nearly two decadesGetty Kelce and Mahomes are trying to win their fourth title togetherGetty Portnoy officially declared the Chiefs “cooked”GettyFor those keeping track at home, Brady led the Patriots to six Super Bowl victories over the course of 18 seasons. He led them to nine total appearances in that stretch, going 6-3.
For comparison, Mahomes has led the Chiefs to three Super Bowl victories over the last six seasons and is 3-2.
There is no doubt the Chiefs are still on pace, but winning three more titles is an extremely tall task. Reid and Kelce aren’t getting any younger, in fact retirement could be calling the tight end’s name as soon as the end of this season.
On the flip side, Mahomes is still only 29 years old. He still has another decade-long run in him if he wants. However, nothing is a guarantee, especially in the NFL.
Portnoy’s theory is that the Chiefs, and Kelce specifically, have gotten too fat off their own success and off the field stardom. Portnoy is basically asking why does Kelce want to keep putting the helmet and pads on, take a beating for five-plus months, instead of just living the A-list celebrity life with his world famous girlfriend.
It’s a fair point.

Even Kelce, now at the spry age of 35, admitted in a recent interview with GQ that his focus had slipped last year with everything that was happening off the field for him.
“I think it might have slipped a little bit because I did have a little bit more focus in trying to set myself up,” Kelce said.
“And opportunities came up where I was excited to venture into a new world of acting and being an entertainer. I don’t say this as ‘I shouldn’t have done it.’
“I’m just saying that my work ethic is such that I have so much pride in how I do things that I never want the product to tail off, and I feel like these past two years haven’t been to my standard.
“I just have such a motivation to show up this year for my guys.”
Kelce has made it clear on numerous occasions that his goal is the Super Bowl. That’s why he is back for a 13th season. That’s why he is still pushing himself, even though he is a sure-fire first ballot Hall of Famer.
And if he and the Chiefs accomplish that feat this year, and win their fourth ring together, Portnoy may just have to eat his words when the bill comes due.
