Ian Stutts from Raleigh, North Carolina has announced he will stay in state with his commitment to NC State for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. Stutts is a “Best of the Rest” ranked recruit in the boys high school class of 2025.
“I am super exited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at N.C. State University. I want to thank my parents, coaches, teammates, and everyone else who has supported me along the way. I can’t wait to be a part of the Wolfpack! Go Pack!”
Stutts swims for Marlins of Raleigh and most recently competed at US Summer Juniors two weeks ago in Irvine, California. There he had numerous ‘A’ final swims including a 5th place finish in the 200 IM (2:03.08), 6th place finish in the 400 IM (4:22.28), and an 8th place finish in the 100 breast (1:03.45). He swam lifetime best times in all three events during prelims with a 2:01.90 200 IM, 4:21.78 400 IM, and a 1:02.75 100 breast.
This past spring, he posted numerous lifetime best times at the Georgia Best of the South meet. He swam to a 1:45.09 200 IM, 3:47.36 400 IM, and a 1:56.60 200 breast. All three swims were best times as well as first place finishes.
Stutts just finished his senior year at Enloe High School and swam to a state title in the 200 IM in February, touching in a 1:46.26. He also was 2nd in the 100 breast in a 54.83 and swam on four relays to help Enloe to a 2nd place team finish.
Stutts’ Best SCY Times Are:
200 IM: 1:45.09 400 IM: 3:47.36 100 breast: 54.06 200 breast: 1:56.60The NC State men finished 3rd out of 15 teams at the 2025 ACC Championships and went on to finish 9th at 2025 NCAAs. Quintin McCarty led the way at ACCs with 88 points.
Based on his best times, Stutts would have made the ACC ‘C’ final this past season in the 400 IM. NC State had one ‘A’ finalist, one ‘B’ finalist, and three ‘C’ finalists in the event. He also is just off making the ‘C’ final in the 200 IM as it took a 1:44.70 to earn a 2nd swim this past season.
Stutts will arrive this fall as a member of the class of 2029 along with #7 ranked Gavin Keogh, and BOTR ranked recruits Max Carlsen, Max Buff, and Tyler Bardak.
