A suburban teacher’s aide is facing charges of reproducing and possessing child pornography, Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke announced Friday.
Bradley Robertson, a 41-year-old teacher’s aide at Palatine High School in the northwest suburbs, allegedly used an account on the instant messaging app Kik to upload or share the images, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office said.
Robertson also used the app to discuss sharing child sexual abuse images with other users, the State’s Attorney’s office alleged. The children in the images are under the age of 13 years old.
Robertson was indicted on eight counts of reproduction of child pornography with a victim under 13, a Class X felony, and possession of child pornography, a Class 2 felony.
According to court documents, Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office investigators received a tip in early 2025 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about child pornography used by a Kik account. Investigators executed multiple search warrants to obtain the IP address, email address, phone number and home address of the suspected account, which was linked back to Robertson.
On June 17, the State’s Attorney’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit, in coordination with the Palatine Police Department and Illinois State Police SWAT team, executed a residential search warrant at Robertson’s home address. Robertson was not home but allowed law enforcement to enter, the State’s Attorney’s office said.
Investigators seized three laptops from the home, according to court records.
Robertson voluntarily arrived at the Palatine Police Department later in the day of June 17 and was taken into custody. A search warrant executed on the cell phone in Robertson’s possession found at least three files containing child pornography of children under 13, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office said.
At his first court appearance on June 19, Robertson was ordered to be detained, and he remains in Cook County Jail.
Robertson’s next court date is scheduled for Aug. 28.
