Experience secure, reliable charging with BMX’s SolidSafe batteries which feature solid-state tech, MagSafe support, and fast USB-C performance.
One of the first products I ever reviewed was a power bank. Back then, our reviews consisted of car chargers, mobile apps, and rechargeable power banks for phones. The battery life was so limited that you needed that extra boost for longer days. Even though battery life is longer today, having a compact backup that is reliable — and more importantly, safe — is super important. This is where SolidSafe™ batteries from Better Mobile Xperience (BMX) fills a void in the power bank marketplace.
About SolidSafe & BMX
SolidSafe is a next-generation power bank designed to be a safer, smarter alternative to traditional lithium-ion battery packs. Unlike standard batteries that rely on flammable liquid electrolytes, SolidSafe uses semi-solid or solid-state battery cells—making it more resistant to punctures, heat, and electrical failure. With support for MagSafe wireless charging, 30W USB-C fast charging, and a built-in USB-C cable, SolidSafe combines safety with everyday convenience in a slim, travel-friendly design.
SolidSafe was created by BMX, a tech startup founded by former members of the Hyper team. Drawing from years of industry expertise, the team at BMX is focused on solving real-world mobile power challenges with cutting-edge design and next-level safety.
The development of SolidSafe was driven by the growing number of power bank recalls and increased airline restrictions around lithium batteries. In response, BMX built SolidSafe to offer consumers a more durable and trustworthy mobile charging solution. The company’s mission is simple: deliver premium charging gear that performs under pressure and puts user safety first.
Whether you’re on the go, traveling by air, or just want peace of mind in your everyday tech, SolidSafe is engineered to keep you powered up – without compromise.

User Experience
The purpose of SolidSafe batteries is something that has recently hit home for me. A friend of the family recently lost their entire home to a fire that was started by a third-party rechargeable Lithium Ion power tool battery. The family escaped the fire, but lost the entire home, all their belongings, and even a couple of pets because of the malfunction of that one battery. They said it was on charge and just exploded.
There was no rhyme or reason to how it happened and they only had about 90 seconds from the time they heard the explosion until the house was fully engulfed. After hearing about someone so close to us going through that ordeal, we have become much more aware of our charging devices and were very excited about the SolidSafe batteries.
I actually received pre-production power banks — both are the 5K model. The colors I received were basically a rose gold and a space gray/silver color and I was told that the colors are designed to match the iPhone Pro models. The silver SolidSafe came with a lanyard attached, but the rose gold did not. The other big difference with the pre-production model is that the display is not the full color LCD. It’s only monochromatic.
When you attach the SolidSafe to your phone using MagSafe, it automatically starts charging after 1-2 seconds. The display shows a small lightning bolt indicating that it’s charging a connected device. I tried the SolidSafe with my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my fiancé used one with her iPhone 16 Pro. She uses a case on her phone; I do not. Neither of us had issues with the battery staying connected to our phone and it was a perfect fit — especially with the iPhone 16 Pro. It rests snuggly underneath the camera system.
We haven’t noticed the SolidSafe getting warm at all, with either of our phones. They just work. We didn’t put our units through any damage testing, but we did some regular timed-charging tests and found that they charge at about the same rate as Lithium Ion power banks do, but we were able to use them under harsher conditions. Our phones have overheated and shutdown before when recharging them with a MagSafe power bank, but that didn’t happen with the SolidSafe batteries. We were drying off after a swim and noticed that the SolidSafe did better heat-wise than our Lithium Ion power banks did. It was 90+ degrees outside and the phones didn’t over heat while charging.
Conclusion
SolidSafe power banks from Better Mobile Xperience (BMX) represent a meaningful step forward in mobile power safety. While many power banks offer fast charging and compact designs, SolidSafe stands out by using safer semi-solid and solid-state battery cells, reducing the risk of overheating, fire, or failure during use.
In day-to-day use, these power banks charge reliably, stay cool and maintain a seamless MagSafe connection with iPhones. With thoughtful design touches like a built-in USB-C lanyard and an easy-to-read display, SolidSafe brings peace of mind to a category that’s often overlooked until something goes wrong. It’s a well-built, intelligently designed charging solution that’s ideal for modern users who value both safety and performance.
