On the final night of Lollapalooza in Chicago, one of the festival’s biggest headliners brought out music legends to help the crowd just “let loose and groove.”
“If I could bring out some friends for you guys,” Sabrina Carpenter said, as Earth Wind and Fire’s “Let’s Groove Tonight” began to play in the background. “So I thought, why not bring out my friends from Chicago? Give it up for ‘Earth Wind and Fire!”
The funk band, originally formed in Chicago in 1969, joined Carpenter on stage Sunday for two songs, including the group’s popular dance song “September.”
“The whole place went insane when they walked out,” Matt Rodrigues, who was at the show with his niece, said, with viral videos posted to social media capturing the moment.
Earlier in the weekend, headliner Olivia Rodrigo brought of Weezer during her set, playing “Say it Ain’t So” and “Buddy Holly.”
The four-day festival, which began Thursday in Chicago’s Grant Park, concluded Sunday night, with roads and streets expected to begin reopening Monday.
