As summer breezes on by, thoughts of school bells ringing are in the minds of many students and staff. Patrick Henry High School students return to the classroom on Monday, Aug. 11.
Among those fully focused on the 2025-26 school year is Patrick Henry High School Principal Sandra White.
Despite a busy schedule preparing for the upcoming school year, Mission Times Courier caught up with White recently for an email Q&A.
MTC: Any new staff on campus this school year?
White: We are pleased to welcome 16 new staff members to PHHS as of today.
MTC: Any new classes on the curriculum this year? If so, what are they, and how will they benefit the students?
White: We are excited to bring a performing arts dance class to campus. This was a late addition that students were unable to select, so we’re looking forward to those who want to earn a performing arts credit, not PE, by way of movement.
MTC: Any renovations, additions etc. to the school during summer break?
White: No renovations.
MTC: What should students expect this school year as they come back to campus this month?
White: Students should expect a welcoming and energized group of staff who are excited to have them back on campus. We are in high expectations of a year full of exciting activities and engaged learning.
MTC: For parents of students going to Patrick Henry for the first time, what message do you have for them?
White: Welcome to the Henry Family! We’re so excited to meet your most precious jewels: your amazing students, and we promise to do our best to ensure they are well taken care of.
As a parent myself, I know exactly how it feels to send your baby off to high school. I’ve done the nervous drop-offs, the pep talks in the car, and yes, even the “I’m fine!” moments (followed by emotional snacks in the parking lot). It’s a big transition.
However, please know, you’re not alone, and they’re in good hands. And just because they’re in high school now doesn’t mean your role is over. I encourage you to stay involved (the Patrick Henry Foundation is a great place to start).
Also, please check in with your student, but not too often. We all know high schoolers are allergic to excessive parent questions. We can’t wait to partner with you for a great year ahead.
