Marcus Rashford is already facing uncertainty less than two weeks after joining Barcelona.
The forward signed for the Spanish giants on a season-long loan from Manchester United last month.
Rashford may have to wait for his La Liga debut after not yet being registered by BarcaGetty The forward joined on a season-long loan from United last monthGettyHowever, Barca have so far been unable to register Rashford in their squad for the upcoming LaLiga season.
It comes after the club failed to meet the league’s salary limits once again.
Barca faced similar issues last season with Dani Olmo forced to wait for his league debut after signing in the summer of 2024.
Rashford and fellow new arrival Joan Garcia could now be in the same situation as they wait to be registered.
Hansi Flick’s side begin their campaign away to Mallorca on August 16.
Asked about his registration status, Rashford told reporters: “I’m not worried. It’s something the club needs to resolve, and I trust they will.
“I’m focused on training and being ready for the start of the competition.”
Meanwhile, club president Joan Laporta told MARCA: “We signed this player because he was deeply committed to coming to Barcelona.
“He’s fast, strong, committed, and did everything he could to sign for Barça. He put pressure on his agent, spoke to the club, and at the same time, spoke to Manchester United.”
Laporta added that more signings could still be made despite the registration concerns already existing.
Laporta has hinted at making more signings despite the registration issuesGetty Rashford is able to train and play in non-competitive fixtures for BarcelonaGettyHe explained: “As a club, we have to have more players than usual, and that means we have to invest more, and that means we have to do our best to have a more competitive squad.
“We have very talented players, but they’re also human beings, and there are limits.
“They need time to rest and enjoy themselves, and I think that’s something to keep in mind.”
Can Rashford play for Barcelona?
Rashford is able to train and feature in friendly matches whilst he waits to be registered for LaLiga.
He has already played twice in pre-season after his arrival from Man United.
The 27-year-old’s loan deal also includes an option to buy at the end of the season.
Rashford made his debut against Japanese side Vissel Kobe last week as Barca began their Asian tour with a win.
He was also involved in their victory over FC Seoul in South Korea on Thursday.
Barca conclude their tour against another South Korean side on Monday when they take on Daegu.
They will then return to Spain to face Como in their final pre-season fixture before the campaign begins.
