MagSafe Compatible Finger Ring and Kickstand

Despite the benefits of AppleCare+ or other phone insurance options, drops, tumbles, spills, and accidents can frequently occur while walking, jogging, climbing stairs, or even when moving your phone.  You can purchase cases with added grip, upgrade the experience with a Pop Socket, or employ a MagSafe accessory upgrade, such as the Phone Ring Holder from Pitaka.  Upgrade your phone experience with a lightweight, MagSafe-compatible combo finger ring and phone stand.

Packaging:

The Pitaka MagSafe Phone Ring Holder arrived in a 2 7/8 inches wide by 3 1/8 inches tall by 9/16 inches thick hanging-style retail package. The cover panel listed the PITAKA name along the left edge in bold-white font, the MagSafe Phone Ring Holder name along the top right, and a large oblique image of the ring along the panel’s midsection.  I liked the vibrant color of the ring, the metallic loop, and the maroon sunset backplate.  The cover panel’s lower black border featured two product icons, which described the landscape/portrait modes, as well as the strong magnet. The right side panel listed the PITAKA name, while the left side panel listed the Sunset color scheme, and “MagEZ Grip 3 for MagSafe Phones/Cases.” The rear panel provided a helpful image showcasing the dual-ring and single-ring layouts, along with a description of the features.  Lastly, the panel provided contact information and a UPC barcode.   The overall color scheme, featuring grey packaging with a lower black border, clean and vibrant white font, and attractive imagery, provided a refreshing experience.

Unboxing:

I opened the bottom panel, removed the inner white cardboard tray, followed by the 1.3-ounce, 2 1/4 inches diameter by 1/4 inches thick PITAKA MagSafe ring.  The dark ring had a centralized oval-shaped 1 1/4 inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall mid-segment.  The upper, maroon-colored semi-circle had a thatched appearance and a Minecraft-esque “SUNSET” name in yellow font.  Beneath the colorful accent, you will find a 1 1/4 inches wide by 1 1/4 inches tall metallic ring, which resembles a soda can tab.  To deploy the ring stand, slide your fingernail into the inner/lower rim of the ring.  The 3/16-inch-thick metallic ring will pivot to just beyond 90 degrees.  You can slide your pointer or ring finger into the ring for added support, or you can slide your fingernail into the lower rim of the ring again to deploy the secondary ring.  When fully deployed, the dual-ring layout measured 2 3/8 inches long by 1 3/16 inches wide.

Testing:

The PITAKA ring’s underside had a large magnet that could attach to a MagSafe-compatible phone or case.  I attached the ring to the MagSafe backing of the OtterBox Lumen case surrounding my iPhone 16 Pro Max.  The magnet allows you to rotate the stand to portrait or landscape mode, with either edge of your phone facing upward.  The magnetic connector provided a secure grip on the phone while watching videos, making calls, or simply carrying the device.  For a desktop hands-free experience, I deployed the second ring.  I rotated the ring 180 degrees so that the stand pointed downward. From that position, I was able to enjoy portrait viewing at about 45 degrees. I liked how easily the ring could be deployed and extended, then folded back into its collapsed center.

The landscape mode was the most helpful aspect of the magnetic ring, providing the most functionality. I enjoyed the last two episodes of Ironheart while eating, and then folded the ring back into the case.  When my battery level dropped, and I needed to use the MagSafe wireless charging functionality, I was able to remove the magnet from the phone and then affix the PITAKA 5000 MAH Aramid Fiber Power Bank (review coming soon).  I was pleased that the magnet was secure enough to affix to the phone/case, to hold the phone via the ring, to support the phone stand functionality, but not so strong as to prevent the removal when desired/needed.  Lastly, I was able to fit the phone plus ring within my Nite Ize XL phone holster.
