ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Saturday will end on a high note with abundant sunshine and a crisp fall breeze. The rest of the evening will bring a northwesterly wind between 10 and 15 mph with a few gusts between 15 and 25 mph. High temperatures only reached the mid to upper 40s Saturday across Western New York and will start to fall into the 30s as we head closer to the evening hours. A freeze warning is in effect from 11pm Saturday to 9am Sunday for counties that are still in the active growing season. A breezy, at times, southwesterly wind Saturday night may reduce the amount of freezing that can take place in these areas. Though we may not see a widespread freeze, expect frost to be likely and some freezing to be possible. Overnight lows will near the mid-30s for Rochester while the southern edge of Wyoming, Livingston, and Ontario Counties may see the low-30s. Overall a chilly, clear, and quiet night is ahead for all of Western New York.
Sunday most of us will wake up chilly and a little frosty, but temperatures will rise into the low to mid 60s by the later afternoon hours. Expect a light breeze out of the southwest between 10 to 15 mph and maybe a few gusts above that range, especially northeast of Lake Erie into the Lake Plains. Sunshine will be plentiful throughout the day. Western New York is nearing peak foliage, and Sunday offers a great chance to enjoy it! Sunday night will still be chilly with temperatures dropping into the upper-30s with clear skies.
As a large area of surface high pressure and upper-level ridging takes over much of the central and eastern United States for the upcoming week, mostly sunny and quiet weather is expected. Most days during the workweek will feature plenty of sunshine with some days in the 60s. Some cooler air will make its way down from Canada throughout the week, which should keep our temperatures pretty close to average for this time of the year.
