MOORESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- The body of a missing swimmer on Lake Norman has been recovered, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office reported.
Lake patrols responded to the 300 block of Catalina Drive in Mooresville for a drowning Thursday evening. When deputies arrived on the scene, they learned that a 16-year-old male had been swimming in Lake Norman and had not returned to the surface.
Local agencies located the missing swimmer's body after a search of the area using sonar technology. The Mount Mourne Fire Department and Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue also were part of the search.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said around 6:45 p.m., the 16-year-old was pronounced dead.
