Twin sisters Tia and Tamera Mowry are ringing in their shared birthday by celebrating each other.
On Sunday, July 6, Tia shared three photos featuring herself, her sister and their brothers Tajh and Tavior via Instagram. “And just like that we are 47,” she wrote.
Tamera also noted the big day on social media via a series of collages and throwback photos of herself and Tia shared on Instagram.
“Happy 47th birthday to my twin, Tia! It’s crazy to think we’ve been doing life together for 47 years,” she wrote “From the silly moments to the tough ones, you’ve always had this determination to keep going and growing — no matter what life throws your way.”

She continued, “I love you more than words can say. Here’s to us, to sisterhood, and spending our birthday today! Together.”
Tia and Tamera Mowry Tia Mowry IGThe sisters have been through a lot together since their cult classic TV series Sister, Sister debuted in April 1994 — and that has sometimes included periods in which they weren’t as close.
In a trailer for the WeTV docuseries Tia Mowry: My Next Act released in September 2024, Tia said she and her sister had previously grown apart.
“I’ve always wanted the family dynamic of having a mom and a dad in one household. When you’re dropping your kids off, you actually visually see how that is no longer,” she said. “Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce.”
She continued, “It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now.”
Tia and Tamera Mowry Tamera MowryBut in November 2024, Tamera made it clear there was no drama with her sister. While speaking about her family’s plans for the Christmas holidays when she said that she and her husband had invited Tia to spend the time with them.
“My husband and I have been doing this since we’ve been together, so it’s about 20 years,” she explained. “We start on Christmas Eve. We invite everyone to our house that maybe doesn’t have a place, their family is not around. We bake cookies and we have a little, it’s not like a big party, but a get-together.”
She added, “Every Christmas, we invite our entire family. This year my sister’s invited, my brothers, my mom, my dad, pretty much everybody in the family. And we make Christmas beef. It usually ends up being a roast beef with mashed potatoes, green beans. Those are some of the staples, with a Christmas drink that I look for. We just get together and enjoy each other.”
