LAKEVILLE, N.Y. — The Fourth of July is Friday, but the folks on Conesus Lake got into the spirit Thursday night, turning the lake into a Ring of Fire.
Homeowners lit flares at 10 p.m. Thursday, creating a red ring around the lake. The night was then highlighted by fireworks displays up and down Conesus Lake.
The idea for the Ring of Fire comes from a Seneca Nation tradition, where they would gather around fires along the lake to celebrate the beauty and abundance of the lake.
