Former Tennessee player Grant Frerking, accused of his role in a series of financial scams, has had a warrant for his arrest secured by police outside Atlanta, according to the Knoxville News-Sentinel’s Tyler Whetstone on Thursday.

The warrant was obtained by detectives in Roswell, Ga., just outside Atlanta. A spokesperson for the city’s police department informed Whetstone that Frerking would turn himself in.

Frerking was initially accused of scamming individuals in June. According to the News-Sentinel, the former Tennessee walk-on allegedly claimed to represent a Georgia-based company called Metro Straw while collecting payments from customers. However, he hadn’t been associated with the company for years.

“Milton (Ga.) resident Philip Nickerson filed a police report June 6 asserting he paid Frerking $778.50 to put down pine straw at his home as an advance payment, but Frerking never showed, he told police,” Whetstone wrote. According to a police report, Frerking promised Nickerson three times that he would come to complete work, but didn’t do so.

“Similarly, Roswell resident Jeff Hamling filed a report asserting Frerking defrauded him and more than 10 neighbors earlier this spring,” Whetstone wrote.

This allegedly occurred while Frerking was a consultant to Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel. He was also employed by On3 as president of its NIL University and director of athlete network development for the better part of 4 years. On June 11, On3 founder Shannon Terry posted a message on X stating that Frerking was no longer employed with the company as of May 27.

“On3 has a zero tolerance policy for blatant violations of its internal standards and values, and takes allegations of criminal misconduct seriously,” Terry wrote, later adding that he was unaware of Frerking’s work with Tennessee, where he was paid $7,500 every six months until January while his contract was set to run out on June 30.

Frerking was also reportedly evicted from a pair of Nashville apartments “where he ran up nearly $16,400 in unpaid debts,” Whetstone wrote.
