The USA Under-19 team continued its hot form at the FIBA U19 World Cup round of 16, thrashing Jordan, 140-67, on Wednesday behind another quality performance from forward Koa Peat.
After dominating the group stage, the USA U19 team upped the intensity against Jordan with a 73-point win — their largest margin of the tournament and more than Jordan’s total team score.
Peat, a 5-star recruit from Perry High School heading to Arizona in the fall, helped push the USA to a 67-37 lead at the half, scoring a team-leading 12 points in 12 minutes.
Peat didn’t play much of the second half due to USA’s commanding lead but finished the game with 13 points and three rebounds, making six of his 10 shots. He also finished the game with a plus-minus of 23.

The USA defense gave Jordan issues all game, scoring 56 of its points off of the 37 Jordan turnovers committed. USA had 31 steals to Jordan’s six and eight blocks to Jordan’s zero.
Peat has been solid throughout the tournament, averaging 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in four games played.
Peat and other double-digit scorers such as AJ Dybantsa and Mikel Brown Jr. are hoping to lead the USA toward a medal at this years tournament after placing fourth in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. That season, USA’s U19 team lost to France in the semifinals and Turkey in the third-place game.
The USA U19 team will play its quarterfinal game against Canada this Friday on the Fourth of July.
